Last week just before Easter, I met the Switch Flop lady, Lindsay Phillips. I happened to be invited to a shopping event at The Yvonne House of Shoe in Venetian Village, Naples Florida. It is always great to meet successful woman as they inspire and show us hope to conquering our new business ventures.

It all began with a school project where Lindsay had a simple idea of making a flip flop with an interchangeable strap. Yes, as simple as that idea sounds, it spurred a desire in her to create her own product line, patent her idea and then introduce Switchflop in 2007 at the Florida Surf Expo. Her classic flip flops with a quirky twist were a huge hit and sold out across the country to a network of 3000 boutiques.
Lindsay is extremely creative and talented and has had some luck a long the way but with all that, she says, it still takes perseverance. One must love what they do, be disciplined and get help a long the way. I also believe this as well, anything is possible and if you want your dreams, you must be willing to take the risk and be patient to see it through. Lindsay has done this and is now reaping the rewards of her vision. She is now expanding her switch out ideas onto other products such as bags!
Of course I bought a pair at the event and am really enjoying wearing them. I think I will venture back out to the shop to get some of those quirky colored bands to mix up my assortment a little. Just what Lindsay wants us to do!
So thanks Lindsay for coming to the shop and chatting business with me as I am a newbie entrepreneur! It was fun. Love your ideas, keep them coming and keep inspiring!
