I’m Jaima, the designer for Jaima & Co. and I love to wear crystal jewelry. Its the sparkle of the crystals that brightens my day. One of my favorite pieces is the pewter Grace Toggle Bracelet. I love it. It is elegant, delicate, simple in design and goes with any outfit. But where else do you find crystals? Read On…
Of course, I use lots of crystals in my jewelry designs and am so grateful for The Swarovski Company. It all started in 1892 when Daniel Swarovski invented and patented precision cut crystal glass and started The Swarovski Company. They now produce crystals for various couture products such as jewelry, fashion, home products like lighting, chandeliers, sculptures as well as computers, iPhones and finally CARS!
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this car on display in Hong Kong last October. It was fantastic. You can’t help but stare at it. It draws you in and you feel compelled to look. I’ve never seen so much bling on one product. These crystals look just like diamonds. Eye candy to the max!
This Car Screams “Look at Me Baby”
To create this masterpiece, The Swarovski Company designed and cut crystals into diamond shapes which were then hand glued onto the car. Apparently, it takes up to 3 months to apply the crystals onto the interior and exterior of the car. As a designer, I can totally appreciate the entire creative process. To decorate a gullwing roadster and encrust it in the diamond cut crystals, it would cost approximately $442,311.52
This car has been named the Million Dollar Mercedes Benz SL-600 and was shown for the second time at the Tokyo Auto Show 2010. This custom car was sold to Prince Al Waleed Of Saudi Arabia for about $4.2 million dollars but no one really knows the final price.
The Ultimate Bling Machine
Popular finishes include:
- Aurora Borealis; a slick rainbow appearance is created
- Xilion; a cut that optimizes the brilliance of roses
- Chantons; the diamond cut
It’s crazy how creative one can get with crystals! I LOVE it. Just think, one little crystal is pretty but when several are put together, they make a statement. This makes me think of Barbie and Elle Woods from the Legally Blond Movie. I know they would have loved a pink encrusted crystal car.
A Ring of Bling
In jewelry, I think Elizabeth Taylor’s engagement ring is the ring of bling. The 69 carott diamond ring given to her by Richard Burton not only raised eyebrows but elevated the status of jewelry in Hollywood. Every woman needs some bling in her life. This is hilarious. A classic when it comes to women adoring engagement rings.
We’ve come along way from diamond rings to diamond cut crystal cars. It’s all fabulous design. If you find other crazy things covered in crystals, email me as I would love to see them.
Bling Bling for now.
