New York is a fabulous city. The architecture is awe inspiring whether you are on the ground level or on a the top floor with a view. I use to design wallpaper for The Gloria Vanderbilt brand and their offices were on the 40th floor of a building. The view was fantastic and I realized that people don’t always see all the architectural detail that is high in the sky.
I walked right past The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, a massive structure of white forms framed by a clear blue sky creating a bold statement of form, function and art.

At the same time, the New York Mercedes Benz fashion week just finished for the 2011 collections but one designer comes to mind from last year, Herve Leger. His designs felt like they were inspired by architecture. The wrapping curves of The Guggenheim are reflected in the visual banding on his dresses, both emulating a similar bold look with a graphic representation.
