I love to decorate with pattern for interiors and have just discovered a unique fashion designer, Mary Katrantzou who also shares my passion for prints. Her specialty is mixing interior-exterior decoration on clothing designs. She has been quoted to say that she wants to put “the room on the woman”. This years patterns were inspired by objects of beauty like Faberge eggs, Ming vases, cloisonne enamel and Meissen porcelain. I have been to the famous Meissen Manufacturing facility in Meissen, near Dresden, and this designer exudes the same fluidity of the delicate, beautifully painted porcelain as does her digitally printed fashions.
Her creativity and style for individuality is fantastic. It is refreshing to see how real interior spaces influenced her digital designs. Mary Katrantzou genius was in transferring these visionary illusions onto fabrics to create an architectural dimension for specific outfits.
These are truly one of a kind dresses. Mary’s images were originally influenced from interior magazines like Architectural Digest and World of Interiors. The whole concept of creating an illusion of architectural spaces on soft flowing fabrics is truly innovative. Look at the french styled window sill on the base of this dress, this is walking art!
This skirt definitely looks like it was inspired from a lamp shade. Whether it’s a pool view from a home like on the skirt above or a balcony view with a city view digitally imprinted on the skirt like below, tells us the designer wants to tell a story through her artful fashions.
This certainly is one of the most interesting tromp l’oeil affects I have ever seen outside my world of interiors. Mary almost wants us to be voyeurs but in a surrealistic fashion way.
The chandelier over the dining room table on this blouse is perfect symmetry. I have a large collection of french chandeliers I bought from Europe and they add drama and elegance to any home but in this blouse, I sense a touch of humor being displayed.
Oh… this is one of my favorites! I would wear this for sure! The jewelry with the dangling green leaves is a prefect compliment to the blue fringe.
As Mary says ” I want to push print to the limit.” I thought she had done it but who knows what is to come from this extra ordinary designer. I certainly will be watching for her next collection of fashion illusions.

You have written a nice wording on fashion, but I want to know more about latest fashion trends and upcoming fashion magazines. Do you have any material about it?
Kind Regards,
