New York’s Style Stars: Kirna Zabete & Dannijo Jewels

July 4, 2013 By Jaima Leave a Comment

Happy 4th Shopping Extravaganza

It’s  the Fourth of July and it’s just starting to really feel like summer.    So, I thought it fitting to make this week’s style star and overall theme; boutique style.  More specifically, I’m paying homage to the best of the best in boutique style from the epicenter of domestic fashion – New York City.  Whether it’s Uptown, Downtown or on the periphery over in Brooklyn, NY is one of the true shopping and style meccas in the world.  Whether hitting up boutiques like Kirna Zabete for the latest in designer duds or shopping cult fave, handmade in NYC jewels from Dannijo, New York is the place for everyone to showcase their most bold daring looks period.

Litter: Unique Jewelry

Litter: Sexy Jewelry

I have been a fan of the edgy, San Francisco-based jewelry company for a number of years now, and was happy to see them looking to grow the business further with a recent appearance on Shark Tank. ( My favorite show!)  The sister duo behind the line, Rachael and Mackenzie, have, along with their model-esque looks, the ability to create uniquely inspired looks for all types of jewelry.  It all began with a one-of-a-kind headpiece, but now includes all types of body jewelry all the way down to shoe adornments.  A love letter bracelet?  A metal hair turban? What more could you ask for?

Getting Cuffed

Getting Cuffed

Anyone with a lick of style knows what a huge contribution a good cuff can make to an outfit.  Whether it’s a sleek, classic little number or an ornately embellished statement piece, cuffs can do wonders to top off your best outfits.  Check out these guys from Ranjana Khan…so unique and yet so totally wearable.  From your black tie best to the go-to jeans and tee look, there is nothing you can’t pair these beauties with.  My style tip:  double the impact and double the fun by wearing one on each wrist!

Gilding the Lily

October 31, 2012 By Jaima Leave a Comment

When it comes to personal adornment, jewelry is my first love.  I will always shun a piece of “fine jewelry” in favor of something, almost anything, that has some greater feel of costume to it.  Bold is beautiful in my world, and jewelry brand October Anniversary has bold down pat.  Though they have expanded into the necklace arena and beyond, I am most drawn to their original large-and-in-charge ring stylings.  Inspired by everything outdoors, from the sea to the jungle to the garden, their recycled silver and gold creations are nothing short of inspiring.  A lily in your hair may be good for a wedding, but a lily on your finger is best served as some 9-5 inspiration.

Animal Attraction

October 17, 2012 By Jaima Leave a Comment

Sure, floral prints and leafy patterns always maintain some level of fashion relevance and appeal to the little girl that lives within us all.  Lately though, I’ve been in the mood for something a little heartier in world of nature/fashion fusion.

THIS FALLS NEW MONICA TOGGLE NECKLACE

November 10, 2011 By Jaima Leave a Comment

It is an exciting time in design at the moment. I, Jaima, the designer  have just finished creating several new pieces for the fall and  winter collection.  The Monica Toggle Necklace was designed in response to customers asking for more drop layered necklaces. Especially the Monica as the faceted agate, pearls and crystals  reflect a subtle bling from  them making the necklace sparkle.  This  jewelry is  fashionable and very versatile as the  colors of the agate include oyster, charcoals and beige so its a necklace that is neutral  and it looks great on creams as well as dark hues like Black.   Why do I love this piece?

  • It’s easy to put on and take off yet is secure with the toggle clasp.
  • The style is timeless.
  • The necklace has  great value for the style as the pearls are real, as well as the agate and crystals.
  • The neutral colors go well with various fashions.

Layering is all the rage today in clothing  which is perfect for this piece.  The Monica Necklace is layers but not to heavy and bulky. Whether your  classic or modernist this can fit any style of look. I happen to be more of a modern traditionalist so I like things with a twist and this suits my modern styling of clothing or can be easily paired wit a classic suit.  One think I do love is the cor0rdinating wrap layered bracelet with the mother of pearl clasp.  Well, have a look at my first video below as I just want to share with you how it looks on.

The Meaning & Beauty of Butterfly Fashions

October 2, 2011 By Jaima 1 Comment

As a  designer, I personally love butterflies . They are a natural wonder, especially the monarch butterfly who can fly the amazing journey of  2500 miles during migration.  Butterflies were fashionable  in the 1950’s and 60’s where  designers used  the  actual wings in jewelry. Today,  Kate Spade and other designers are bringing the butterfly motif back into trend. It is  now possible to find  butterfly imagery on computer covers, fabrics, jewelry, fashion, accessories and home decor.   They’re colorful, beautiful,  delicate yet strong. When I see butterflies, they make me feel  happy,  light and airy creating  an  ethereal effect.  They also have some interesting symbolism. Read On…
