A large-scale novelty butterfly pattern “Butterfly Folly” opens the collection with a foundation of sophistication and style. Continuing the theme, butterflies and apple blossoms are reflected in “Flights of Fancy” a stunning watercolor mural.

Pattern of the Week: Martinique Coral Wallpaper

January 29, 2015 By Jaima Leave a Comment

I think its only appropriate to feature a beach print as we love this weather in the south and are only to happy to be missing out on all the snow storms up north!  This pattern conjures up happy memories by the beach while exuding a relaxed feeling of comfort. I always think that pattern is the way to create a warm and inviting atmosphere into any home and this print certainly does that! Enjoy!

Bold Banana Leaf Wallpaper

December 6, 2014 By Jaima Leave a Comment

Trending for 2015 are tropical leaves but if you really know about style, banana leaves are always in fashion….and a classic design! The Banana leaf has various symbolic meanings.   In Africa, Banana leaves symbolize abundant fertility and are used in a ritual to make women fertile.  Did you know that the flowers that turn into the banana fruit are sterile and because of this, Buddha made the banana plant the symbol of futility of earthly possessions. In Asia, the  banana plant is considered a  very large herb and not a tree as it doesn’t have any seeds and because of this, it was considered the first gift from the gods. Classic Chinese iconography shows Buddha meditating on the key to wisdom at the foot of a banana plant. With all that  being said, I love the beauty and boldness of a large banana leaf print in a home and could easily meditate in this room. The Buddha are so wise!

Trend Friday: Stick it to ‘em with Wall Skins

August 23, 2013 By Jaima Leave a Comment

The latest trend in wall coverings delivers the best of everything.  Bold colors, textures, and patterns coupled with, wait for it, ease of use, non-damaging removal, and re-usability.  Genius, sheer genius! This new generation of stick on wallpaper allows you to place and replace your wallpaper without the mess and frustration.  The patterns themselves are uniquely bold as well; a love letter, rusty siding, whatever your heart desires.  Kinda makes you want to give yourself a bedroom makeover doesn’t it?

Pattern of the Week: Retro Bark Cloth Prints

June 11, 2013 By Jaima 1 Comment

Retro Bark Cloth

As a designer, I love to search, find and touch vintage fabrics and wallpaper prints. Bark cloth which seems to be coming back into home fashion was originally a popular fabric in Asia, Indonesia, Africa and the Pacific. It was made from beating inner fibrous tree bark but is now made from cotton and other synthetic fibers woven in a thick weave. Bark cloth fabric has a soft, semi nubby feel to the material and was named Bark cloth because it’s texture was similar to tree bark.

Flamin Hot!!

December 6, 2012 By Jaima Leave a Comment

Reminiscent of Missoni’s, well, almost everything, the flame stitch is once again having a moment.   An endless array of color combinations and various forms of geometric interpretations make for an appealing focal point.  As a wallpaper (like the one pictured below), or reinvented as a rug, or even just pieced in with a great decorative tray or throw, the flame stitch pattern is both visually stimulating and practical.  It has been around for a thousand years and is as relevant and usable as ever.  Whether splurging for Missoni or opting for a more affordable option, why not use a new flame stitch element as the color inspiration for a room overhaul?!
