The Berkeley House Showroom

August 5, 2015 By Jaima Leave a Comment

Today we visited the Boston Design Center where the Berkeley House showroom sells the  designer brand “Jaima Brown Home.”  It’s a lovely showroom and the president, Jim Agostino is just a delight to work with.  We shared stories from the past and showed Jim our up and coming Chelsea Lane Collection which contains freshly colored  wallpapers and fabrics that is launching this fall.  We are excited to say, Berkeley House is going to hang the  Charleston Mural  from the Charleston Home Collection in their front entrance.  Thank you  Jim for all your support and  for loving Jaima Brown Home over the years. Cheers! Style Star: Barry Dixon

February 16, 2015 By Jaima Leave a Comment

I was fortunate to meet interior designer Barry Dixon at the DCOTA Design Week event in Miami.  His decorating style reflects southern charm with international influences which is reflected though his fabric collection by Vervain Fabrics. I also found out that he is coming out with a wallpaper collection this fall. As a lover of wallpaper and a designer myself, I can’t wait to see it! Barry shared his life with us  in Miami and showed pictures of his beautiful 1907 Edwardian Estate in Virginia where he lives and runs his design firm.  It was  a great meet and greet day……thanks Barry for being so charming! Style Star: Mario Buatta

February 12, 2015 By Jaima Leave a Comment

Last week in Miami Florida I was attending Design Week  at DCOTA and was fortunate enough to meet up with famous interior designer Mario Buatta. For many years I have followed this talented designer who was known in the industry as “The Prince of Chintz”. Mario created one of a kind interiors. He was never afraid to use brilliant colors and prints.  It was  this love of  English design blended with American color  that set his style apart from others.  Mario truly was the Prince of chintz as he was always known for creating spaces with bold colors and floral prints. Thanks for inspiring us  over 50 years in design. Cheers! Pattern of the Week: Martinique Coral Wallpaper

January 29, 2015 By Jaima Leave a Comment

I think its only appropriate to feature a beach print as we love this weather in the south and are only to happy to be missing out on all the snow storms up north!  This pattern conjures up happy memories by the beach while exuding a relaxed feeling of comfort. I always think that pattern is the way to create a warm and inviting atmosphere into any home and this print certainly does that! Enjoy!                                                                          Martinique Wallpaper Photo copyright Jaima Brown Home. Bold Banana Leaf Wallpaper

December 6, 2014 By Jaima Leave a Comment

Trending for 2015 are tropical leaves but if you really know about style, banana leaves are always in fashion….and a classic design! The Banana leaf has various symbolic meanings.   In Africa, Banana leaves symbolize abundant fertility and are used in a ritual to make women fertile.  Did you know that the flowers that turn into the banana fruit are sterile and because of this, Buddha made the banana plant the symbol of futility of earthly possessions. In Asia, the  banana plant is considered a  very large herb and not a tree as it doesn’t have any seeds and because of this, it was considered the first gift from the gods. Classic Chinese iconography shows Buddha meditating on the key to wisdom at the foot of a banana plant. With all that  being said, I love the beauty and boldness of a large banana leaf print in a home and could […]

Pattern of the Week: Jewels of the Sea

December 3, 2014 By Jaima Leave a Comment

This is my favorite print, known as ” Jewels of the Sea”. Its from  the new Charleston Home Collection by Jaima Brown Home.  The bright fresh colors and large scale makes it so LUXURIOUS! The fabric is a soft linen so feels great on  chairs as well as in draperies or bedding.  It instantly makes me feel like I am on an exotic island. Don’t you think so?   Jewels of the Sea in Lavender All photos copyrighted JBH.
