Style Star: Daphne Guinness

Daphne Diana Joan Susanna Guinness; the plethora of names alone exudes grandeur.  Heir to the Guinness beer fortune and daughter to a muse of Man Ray and Dali, artistic savvy and the coin it takes constantly create her elaborate looks are in her genes.  At 45 years old, she is as youthful and fresh as any of the new young things in the fashion world.  She is also bold enough to take risks with her wardrobe without hesitation.  A devotee of her late friend, Mr. Alexander McQueen, her ensembles often take on a costume like regality – ain’t that grand!

It’s What’s On The Outside That Counts

I couldn’t have a week of SJP-as-Carrie love without dedicating at least one post exclusively to the fabulosity of her coat collection.  Only in the magical world of television could every outfit have its own unique and spectacular piece of coordinating outerwear, and yet Carrie does a great job of making our fashion dream seem of reality.  [Read more...]

Flower Power

Counterpoint to my earlier Halloween post, let’s focus on the beautiful things in life.  A room full of flowers is good for so many things, namely ensuring a peaceful sanctuary amongst all of life’s chaos.  It is remarkable what a beautiful bouquet can add to a room let alone a home.  Why not turn it up a notch and make them an exotic attraction.  Even with a simple grocery store bundle of stems and some odds and ends from around the house, you can make something spectacular.  Just look at what you can do with some old belts or yesterday’s newspaper.  Find your inspiration in the everyday!

Powder Play

While I’ve never been one to adhere to those fashion rules that went out of style when individuality came in, wearing white after Labor Day does require a certain level of consciousness of shades, fabrics and all around styling.  Fall 2012 runways revealed models sauntering about in brighter and bluer hues than normal; all looking perfectly crisp for year round mix-and-matching.  Reed Krakoff and Brood show off great examples in layers of color-free architectural design.  So go ahead and break the rules and wear your powdery white best before and after Labor Day.

House and Home

Kelly Wearstler’s accomplishments in the interior design industry and beyond are vast and impressive.  She launched her own company, Kelly Wearstler Interior Design back in 2005 and has since made her name famous adorning homes, hotels and restaurants.  She has authored two books, appeared as guest judge on the reality show Top Design, launched her own line of decorative home goods and most recently, made her way into the world of fashion design.  Basically, she knows a thing or two about what looks good.  And what looks good to me (aside from the simply awesome clutches in fashion line) are her bronze décor items.  Playful and sculptural, they are little works of art befitting all style of home.  They are prefect pieces to transition your house to a home!

Style Star: Abbey Lee Kershaw

Australian Supermodel, Abbey Lee Kershaw has me continuing the Style Star trend of those with global appeal.  Her penchant for maxi skirts, leopard, and all things dramatic and daring transcends beyond model style to It Girl taste maker.

Her head-turning appeal has led to collaborations with brands such as Mania Mania (her Immortals ring is a personal fave) and will undoubtedly keep her in the forefront with Kate Moss like longevity.  Her look above was spotted post Viktor & Rolf’s S/S 2012 show.
