 Johnny Depp  is a Fashion Icon

I feel as though I have been remiss in neglecting the male gender for my weekly style star.  So, in my first nod to the boys I am going to pay homage to the main man himself; Mr. Johnny Depp.  His sex appeal and style appeal alike are universally undeniable.  Even if you generally steer clear of that meticulously disheveled look, most of us would make an exception for this guy.  Sort of the male version of Mary Kate and Ashley, he has mastered his own personal layered and quirky look.  Always sporting some portion of his signature hat and gaggle of jewelry motif, he will forever be still in my heart.

It’s no secret that the Ms. Kate Middleton has inspired legions of loyal fans, domestically and across the pond, ever since she was first spotted on the arm of Prince William back at University.  Even before the royal wedding, she garnered style devotees that looked to her classic fashion choices for inspiration prior to every shopping trip.  That following has ramped up even further now that she has brought her style smarts to the world of maternity.  In my humble opinion she has done maternity even better than her everyday attire…and what better final accessory than that beautiful pregnancy glow!!

In a week long tribute to the bold impact of black & white in the form of a certain angelic African animal, I must start off by showcasing some of the best of the best.  As with all animal print, zebra can go the direction of cheesy with only a slight misstep. Leave it to Ms. Rachel Zoe to show us how to do it right; with simplicity that’s how.  No need for statement accessories with this look –keeping it simple is keeping it right.  Look to Valentino for inspiration…clearly the fashion house has its eye on the fashion prize as well.

Love it or loathe it, leopard is a look that has been around for-eva and is going nowhere soon. It sometimes gets a bad rap as a cheesy or even trashy, gasp, print, but it is all about wearing this bold look right.  Many of the most iconic women in fashion are proud leopard loving gals, and they can always be counted on to show the rest of us how to do it right!  From Audrey Hepburn to Jackie O. to Kate Moss doing it so right I had to show her twice…classy is all in the execution.  One tip for all you ladies aiming to look this good in leopard; keep your fabrics in check!  Poor quality leopard is nearly impossible to recover from, just sayin…

In an ode to the end of engagement season and the onset of wedding season, this week’s posts will find their roots in the bridal world.  And what a more perfect way to start a tribute to all the goodies that are the bridal industry than to feature the grand dame of them all, Ms. Vera Wang herself.  Her wedding gowns and ready-to-wear alike embody all that is feminine in clothing design.  Her personal style, however, features more of a downtown cool aesthetic.  Oversize  and comfy chic, she is able to keep her individual style to herself and still cater to women who want to look their girly best on their wedding and every other day. Award season is well underway and the stars are continuing to one up each other at every red carpet opportunity.  The Grammy’s are a personal fave of my in terms of style standards and this year did not disappoint!  Not everyone may have adhered to the pleas from up top for a conservative take on fashion, but my top style stars managed to keep it classy and cool.  Rihanna knocked it out of the park with her red-hot stunner and never gets better than Taylor Swift’s Grecian, white winner.  Who won your style star Grammy?
