Trend Friday: Bedazzling Glass Wallcovering

Be-Dazzle My Heart

Bejeweling or bedazzling designer glass beaded wallpaper has been the unexpected it, a quiet trend  for quite some time now.  Maya Romanoff’s Bedazzled wall covering has been around for a while too, but is still as fresh as ever.  Available in an assortment of colors, this wall adornment is as big of a statement as a piece of art.   This colorful glass beaded wallpaper is fabulous when used for fireplaces, powder rooms and for anywhere else  you want to make a statement. The  subtle shine is unique in the fact that it can be used commercially or for residential use. No matter when or where you use it, Be-dazzled is  always going to create a winning look. This is luxury at its best.  Shine on!

Trend Friday: Reclaimed, Repurposed Wood Furniture

Claim to Fame
Who doesn’t love anything that feels as good as it looks? And what feels better than buying something that does good for our one and only precious earth? So, that brings me to the trend of reclaimed and re-purposed goods. Wood, in particular, is so durable that amazing things can be made and remade out of every tree out there…objects that can transcend generations. For those of you that appreciate a good rustic vibe, how good is this reclaimed wood table? It has re-purposed metal legs to boot and the bonus factor of coming from an Etsy small business. Design savvy and eco-savvy, boom!

Outdoor Living: Pebble Tables

Rock Solid

I really love when outdoor décor is designed to live in harmony with nature…and what could be more natural than a giant pebble for a table.  Or at least what looks like a giant pebble.  This coffee table (and the coordinating side table) from West Elm are really just the best of everything.  Made out of cement concrete, they are still surprisingly light in weight. They also have the unique ability to blend with virtually any outdoor setting.  Classic to contemporary, these tables will give you outdoor space a fresh-looking revamp.  With a sale price to boot, there is really nowhere to go but to the checkout counter.

Accent-uate The Positive: Zebra Pillow Talk

Accent-uate The Positive

Bringing the safari-esque theme into your home can be equally as daunting a challenge as tastefully blending it into your wardrobe.  It doesn’t, however, mean that you have to totally play it safe.  Animal print throw pillows are nothing new in the interior design world, but why not punch it up a notch by adding some color into the zebra mix?  And no, a fuzzy hot pink and black combo is not a viable option…but a little red and white zebra or chartreuse green and white, now that can work!

Black & White Zebra Luxury Style

Black and White & Fab All Over

The final note in my week of all things animal print gets back to the basics.  A zebra print rug is a more of a classic than a trend at this point, but how you work it into a room is how you make it your own modern style.  This room is a perfect example of how to keep it fresh and current.  Clean lines and geometric shapes abound which serves as the perfect way to showcase the natural shape and texture of the rug.  Consider yourself inspired!

ScentSational

Not only is the candle craze showing no signs of letting up, it is veering into all sorts of wild and unchartered territories.  My new faves are the unexpected pieces by Le Feu de L’eau (The Fire of the Water).  More specifically, at the top of my candle short list is their most recent creation, Le Feu de Rouges, the Garden Fresh Rose variety.  Each candle is sculpted under water with a high temperature wax.  The color is hand mixed and the fragrances are custom blended into a soy candle filling. How cool!!  They are like a little piece of scent art.

Light as a Feather

Light as a Feather

Not only am I fan of plumage adorned garb and select accessory iterations, but a few feather finds for home have me in a tizzy as well.  We all know how great an asset a quality feather filled pillow, comforter, and such can be, but feather on the outside?  Form really does follow function on this one.  Check out these softly hued ostrich feather varietals. How would you do the feather four, chic for your modern day parlor or sexy for your boudoir?

Trend Friday: TEAL

Color Theory:  Teal

Emerald green may be the color of the year, but it’s teal that I’m trending toward this season.  Not only popular in fashion but also in home design. Teal is one  of those unique colors that looks equally stunning mixed with a warm or cool palette; it is as versatile as it is bold.  As always, I love it big and bright and envision a full wall in a rich teal-ectable hue in my near future.  If subtlety is your m.o. introduce by the cup instead of the gallon.  Lamps, bedding, trim; all good places to start!

Trend Friday: Get into the Greek

Get Into the Greek

Greece itself may be struggling, but its style influence certainly hasn’t diminished.  The Greek key motif is trending throughout the design world…finding its place in a number of rooms throughout the home.  The best spot to sport your Greek love?  The bedroom, I think.  Loving the bold look of the red design adorning crisp white bedding.  Better yet, give yourself a new DIY project and create your own Greek key look.  A gilded Greek key dresser, perhaps?

Trend Friday: UnbeWeavable…

UnbeWeavable…

Today’s trend is another twofer of sorts.  Hand-woven baskets have become suddenly stylish.  None are more so than the boldly hued, expertly crafted Senegalese versions I have stumbled upon.  Available in a variety of colors and sizes, they make a useful household addition such as hampers, storage vessels, or for any number of practical purposes.  The twofer, is that these baskets serve a greater purpose beyond satisfying your style urges; they are also a collaboration with the Peace Corps. More than 100 rural Wolof women are able to sell their baskets beyond their over saturated Senegal communities.  See, twofer!
